Where are you located?

We are located in the great town of Sutherland, Iowa! We may be a church in a small town, but Sutherland Church of Christ continues to grow and we have God to thank for that! Come experience life change, we would love to have you!

What time is service?

Every Sunday - We provide two services that you and your family can attend. 9:00am - 1st Service Worship (Nursery available, Kindergarten & under) 10:00am - Coffee & More 10:30am - 2nd Service Worship, Children's programming for all ages available during 2nd service, as well as multiple adult Bible classes going on during that time.

Where do I park?

We have parking directly in front of and across the street from the church, as well as an extra parking lot behind the building. Feel free to come in the door on the West side if you park in the back.

Is there something for my kids?

Sunday's ---
9:00am Service
During the 9:00am service, Nursery is available for childen (Kingergarten & under). It is located directly beneath the sanctuary. You have the option of your children sitting with you during church or checking them in so you can get more out of the service. No one expects kids to be silent in the pew, you will not receive judgement either way. People choose both options weekly, so choose what works best for your family.
10:30am Service
During the 10:30am service, we have children's programming available for all ages. When you come in, your kids can go right to the Tree House Kids (4yrs-2nd grade) and Nursery directly below the sanctuary. They will have their own lesson while you attend church and they will be ready to go when service is over. As a safety precaution, we check them in, print a label, and give you a matching label that you bring back to retrieve them after service. 3rd grade and older students' classrooms are located in the gym balcony.

What does a typical service look like?

If it's your first time, we recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early. That will give you enough time to park, grab some coffee and find a seat before service begins. We kick off the service promptly at both 9:00am and 10:30am so that we can get you out on time.

We sing.
Most Sundays we sing modern worship songs mixed with a few hymns. We have large screens with the lyrics to make it easier to follow along during the service.
We take Communion weekly.
We offer communion to everyone who has a relationship with Jesus. We leave it up to you whether you want to partake or not. No one checks to see who does and does not take communion. During the last 2 songs of the service, you will have the opportunity to go to a communion station and partake. The cups are double stacked with bread in the bottom and juice in the top.
We take up an Offering.
Each week we take up an offering in the offering boxes at the communion tables. If you are a visitor, please do not feel obligated to give. We give out of joy because we know that the money given is going to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus here and around the world.

How do I join a small group?

We have many Small Groups that meet outside of the church - If you are interested in joining a Small Group, go ahead and visit our Groups page here on our website. There you will see all gathering small groups listed as well as group leaders and figuring out what night works best with your schedule! Otherwise, please feel free to talk with etiher our lead minister, John Erickson or Women's Minister, Terran Weaver. They are both more than happy to get you placed in the right small group that works best for you!

How can I get involved in serving?

As our church continues to grow, it all starts with community, the willingness to serve within the church and outside of the church. Serving comes in many ways whether that be helping serve coffee in between services, welcoming others at the door, using your musical talents by being a part of the Praise Team, putting your "tech-savvy" side to use by joining the Sound Tech Team, joining a small group and maybe eventually leading one! If you have a willing heart to serve, chat with any of our staff, John - Lead Minister or Terran - Youth Minister, we would love to visit with you!

If I'm a visitor, can I take communion?

Here at Sutherland Church of Christ, we partake in communion weekly. It is ours neither to invite nor exclude. Jesus Christ invites all who have a relationship with Him to meet Him at His table. We welcome all believers to partake.
